More people shopping in-store at Sainsbury’s

Shoppers are returning to Sainsbury's stores after a big rise in online sales during the pandemic.

The UK's second biggest supermarket said online sales are at around 13%, having risen to over 20% at the height of Covid, as reported by the BBC.

Sainsbury's reported pre-tax profits for the last year were down 15% to £277m, due in part to winding down its banking arm.

But underlying profits were up 1.6% to £701m, with grocery sales rising by 9.4%.

Sales of Sainsbury's clothing for the year were down by 6.4% and Argos sales slipped by 0.5%, hit by a wet summer affecting sales of seasonal products.
